Course Description

The Advanced Vibration Analyst - ISO 18436 Category III course provides a wide array of advanced vibration analysis techniques including two-channel analysis, advanced signal processing, modal analysis, operating deflection shape (ODS), synchronous time averaging, and torsional vibration. It is a preparatory course for the ISO 18436-2:2014 Vibration Analyst Category III Certification Exam.

This course is intended for people who are confident with spectrum analysis but who wish to push on and learn more about signal processing, time waveform and phase analysis, cross-channel testing, machine dynamics, and fault correction. The course exceeds the ISO 18436-2 Category III standard and meets the ASNT Level III Recommended Practice.

Course Objectives

Upon the successful completion of this course, each participant will be able to:

  • Gain advanced knowledge in vibration analysis  based on ISO 18436 category III
  • Understand advanced signal processing and data acquisition
  • Study two-channel analysis, time waveform analysis and phase analysis
  • Discuss dynamics, modal analysis and FEA
  • Conduct testing for natural frequencies  & electric motor
  • Study pumps, fans and compressors
  • Describe correcting resonances and  synchronous time averaging
  • Detect gearbox fault and carryout corrective action
  • Study torsional vibration, rolling element bearing fault detection and journal bearing fault detection
  • Conduct acceptance testing and review ISO standards

Who Should Attend?

This course is designed for Category II (or Level II) certified and are ready to take your career and responsibilities to the next step and for those who wish to truly master vibration analysis, diagnosis and correction.

Participants should have over 36 months of experience and a good understanding of fault diagnosis and spectrum analysis.   (Note: 36 months experience to be certified.)

Assessment Methodology

All courses conducted by EdTech are begun with a written Pre-evaluation and end with a Post-evaluation. The instructor will evaluate the knowledge and skills of the participants according to the feedback given by participants. Course Certificate
